Assignment 5: A summary of Vee Speers

STYLE: Vee Speers' style is very unique. She doesn't just capture an image- she expresses a message behind her photographs. She quite clearly illustrates how she 'doesn't like to follow the crowd'. Her images are both disturbing and beautiful, and focuses on the contrast between fantasy and reality.

TECHNIQUE: The common technique that is used by Vee Speers is the position of the models. She locates her models in the centre of the frame, in front of a dull white background. The models also, especially in Thirteen and The birthday party, dress her female models in typical children's dresses

NARRATIVE:
The narrative behind Vee Speers' images is always very detailed. One example of the narrative of her images is ' the birthday party'. She expresses the triggers concerning todays paranoid society, and shows a great depth of emotion behind these issues. When Vee Speers uses the male models, she portrays the exploitation of child soldiers in this day and age.

CONTEXT: Vee Speers uses brightness and her focus point very well.  She uses dull, although sharp lighting to contrast her centre subjects against it.
