Annie leibovitz is 63 and was born in the USA. She is a famous photographer and her career spans over 30 years. She has also written many books.
I have chosen this image of Annie's because it really interests me. Annie has expressed simplicity but cleverly displayed the focal point- Lady gaga- of the image well. The background of the photograph is a bleak grey, however it is uncomplicated and therefore is able to show the person in the picture very easily. The portrait is very natural and by not using objects such as brightly coloured hats in the photo, the photographer is able to capture the focal point appropriately. Lady gaga is positioned in the centre of the photo- this shows that Annie has created a deliberate focal point. The throw that Lady gaga is wearing breaks up the colour a bit. The light pink fluffy throw is still remotely pale, but it does a good job of separating Lady gaga's skin complexion and the backdrop in the photo. What I like about the image is that it focuses on the pop star's face well. The photo does not rely on the use of a bright colour within the frame, so they can fully focus on Lady gaga's natural beauty. The photo was taken in recent years, which is why I am surprised at the colours and lighting that have been used to create this image. This is because, generally, paler colours were used more in the older days. I like the picture mainly because it is unique- the image is plain but elegant, and is not dominated by bold colours. personally I like this photo because its so complex- its indicates simplicity yet it is still fascinating
